Family Network Support is a new service recently launched by Dorset Council designed to help families overcome challenges by drawing on their trusted networks—such as relatives, friends, or community members. Schools and teachers play a key role in identifying families who could benefit from this support.

Examples of support include:

  • Providing transport solutions, like a car and car seats for school runs.
  • Supplying essential items, such as a sofa bed for a family member to assist during crises.
  • Funding services, like mediation, to strengthen family communication and childcare arrangements.

How to Refer a Family: 

Referrals must be made by professionals, health professionals.

Families will be supported through Family Network Meetings (facilitated through Daybreak), which focus on coordinating practical and emotional help. If you know a family that could benefit, submit a referral through Dorset Families Matter:
